Displaced people in Kibati and Buvira, deprived of humanitarian assistance
In the Kibati and Buvira groupement, located in the Nyiragongo territory, more than 500 displaced households are facing a critical situation. They complain of not receiving the humanitarian assistance to which they are entitled, according to a report by UN Radio.
These displaced people, who have had to leave their villages because of conflicts or natural disasters, live in precarious conditions and are prey to indescribable misery. Faced with this situation, they call on the authorities to improve their accommodation and food conditions.
However, according to some sources, the lists of displaced persons receiving humanitarian aid are drawn up by customary chiefs. However, civil society in Nyiragongo opposes this method of selection and claims that lists of eligible IDPs are available from the Humanitarian Affairs Division.
This situation highlights the need for better coordination between the authorities and humanitarian organizations in order to ensure an equitable distribution of aid to the displaced. It is essential that the selection criteria are transparent and based on the real needs of the displaced people.
In conclusion, it is crucial that the displaced persons of Kibati and Buvira be able to benefit from the humanitarian assistance which is due to them. It is essential that the authorities put in place the necessary measures to improve their living conditions and ensure their safety. Solidarity and collective effort are essential to bring lasting solutions to this difficult situation
