“Congolese athletes shine at the Games of La Francophonie and inspire national pride”

Congolese athletes are the pride of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during the IX Games of La Francophonie. With a record participation of 361 athletes and 40 artists, the DRC demonstrated its talent by winning 39 medals, including 5 gold, 11 silver and 23 bronze. An exceptional performance which propels the country to ninth place in the general classification.

President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to Congolese athletes and artists during a dinner organized in their honor. He underlined the honor that these performances brought to the country, despite the preparation difficulties they had to face.

To support and promote Congolese sport, the President of the Republic announced that the new sports infrastructures will henceforth serve as places for training and training for athletes, financed by the Congolese State. Moreover, he promised to organize each year in Kinshasa the “Games of the DRC”, in order to prepare the athletes for the international competitions.

In recognition of their exceptional performance, the Head of State gave instructions to the Prime Minister to release merit bonuses for medalists and participation bonuses for all Congolese athletes who participated in the Games of La Francophonie.
