National end-of-professional-study exams in the DRC: a crucial step for students in vocational training

In the heart of the province of Kasaï Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the national end-of-vocational studies exams brought together a total of 360 candidates in 11 test centers. These exams, organized by the Provincial Directorate of Vocational Education, Arts and Crafts, took place over several days to allow candidates from the various vocational centers and vocational schools to pass their tests.

The objective of these exams is to enable participants to obtain their state diploma and validate their skills acquired during their professional studies. According to Paul Kasaonga Shiyayiku, head of the Provincial Directorate, it is essential to apply the presidential ordinance which entrusts the management of short professional cycles to the Teaching of Vocational Training, Arts and Crafts, just as it has been done in d other provinces of the DRC.

This edition of the certification exams also took place in the province of Maniema, where more than 204 candidates, including 71 women, presented themselves in 10 examination centers. According to Colette Sifa Balalwa, provincial inspector of the supervisory ministry, candidates must provide quality work in order to obtain their state diploma at the end of this evaluative session.

The exams focused on the specific branches linked to the organized courses, as well as on general culture. Participation in these certification exams is open to students from the various vocational training centers and trades in the province of Maniema.

It is essential that all the actors involved work together to ensure the smooth running of these reviews. This will guarantee the valorization of candidates’ skills and strengthen vocational education in the DRC.
