“The President of the DRC calls for the improvement of the business climate in the country”

In his speech on Friday, June 9 at the hundred and first meeting of the Council of Ministers, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, said that the government must work to improve the business climate. in the country, an essential condition for attracting and retaining the investments necessary for the socio-economic development of the country. These statements follow the presentation of the results of the first survey of the National Barometer of the Business Climate (BNCA), which took place on June 6th.

The report of this survey will serve as a working tool to enable public authorities to better understand the realities of the economic landscape, as perceived by economic operators who are in direct contact with the public administration. The Congolese government should thus strengthen the overall score of the country in order to improve the business climate, despite the already positive results.

To facilitate this improvement, the Head of State asked the Prime Minister to oversee the rapid implementation of the business climate emergency plan, which should cover all public services with a direct or indirect impact on the latter. The political, technical and human dimension of this plan will enable the rapid implementation of the necessary reforms.

Thus, President Tshisekedi, insisted on the importance of the implementation of a system of management and follow-up of the various recommendations resulting from the exchanges between stakeholders during this public-private dialogue. It will therefore be necessary for all the parties involved to engage in an exercise of frank dialogue so that the objectives set are achieved.

In short, improving the business climate in the DRC is a major challenge for the country, which must absolutely attract the investments necessary for its socio-economic development. The means put in place by the government and the various stakeholders will thus be able to help meet this challenge.
