Fight against corruption in the DRC: mobilization of all for sustainable development

Corruption is a scourge that deeply affects Congolese society. It hinders economic development, harms innovation and undermines the country’s growth. Aware of this reality, the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) headed by Jules Alingete, is committed to mobilizing all social strata in order to fight against this scourge in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

During a conference organized at the Kinshasa Higher Institute of Commerce (ISC), Jules Alingete underlined the importance of the fight against corruption for the development of the country. He compared the consequences of corruption to those of epidemics, pointing out that the more it is present, the more innovations are hindered and economic growth suffers.

The IGF’s mission is to support the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, in the fight against corruption and the promotion of good governance. Since its revitalization in 2020, the IGF has carried out numerous actions to fight corruption at all levels. However, Jules Alingete insists that this fight cannot be carried out by the IGF alone, but requires the involvement of every Congolese citizen.

The conference at the ISC aimed to raise awareness among students and school officials about the evils of corruption. She also discussed the role of digitization in the fight against this scourge in academia.

Corruption manifests itself in different forms in the DRC, such as bribes, embezzlement and embezzlement. These practices have a direct impact on the country’s development and undermine the confidence of investors and international partners.

To fight corruption effectively, it is necessary to adopt a collective approach. Every citizen must be aware of their role in this struggle and demonstrate responsibility and integrity. Institutions of higher learning, like the ISC, have a key role to play in educating students about the importance of ethics and transparency.

Digitization can also play a crucial role in the fight against corruption. By automating processes and strengthening the traceability of transactions, it reduces opportunities for corruption. However, it is important to point out that scanning alone cannot solve the problem of corruption. It must be supported by strong legislative and regulatory measures, as well as by the political will to combat this scourge.

The fight against corruption in the DRC is a major challenge for the country’s sustainable development. It requires the involvement of everyone, from authorities to citizens, including academic institutions. By educating new generations about the importance of ethics and transparency, we can hope to create an environment conducive to economic growth and building a better future for all Congolese
