“Insecurity in the DRC: an MP demands accountability after a latest massacre in Ruwenzori”

The news in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains plagued by insecurity and violence. The latest tragic events that took place in Bukokoma, in Ruwenzori in Beni territory, triggered a wave of indignant reactions. The Honorable Celse Magezi, elected provincial deputy of Beni, expressed his indignation and demands accountability for the persistent insecurity in this region.

According to the MP, the armed forces supposed to protect the population are not doing their job enough, and the enemy is taking advantage of this inefficiency to carry out deadly attacks. The massacre of 15 civilians in Bukokoma is just the latest in a long series, which includes killings in Museya, Kalivuli and Kyangeni. Faced with this situation, the elected representative of Beni calls for a serious investigation to understand the reasons for these repetitive failures.

The Honorable Celse Magezi points the finger at the profiteering of certain soldiers, who take advantage of the situation for their own profit. He asks for the transfer of all the soldiers in post, and their replacement by more competent security agents.

This situation is intolerable and endangers the lives of thousands of innocent Congolese. The security services must take urgent measures to protect the population and restore order. The authorities must also assume their responsibilities to put an end to this recurring situation of insecurity.

Overall, the situation in the DRC underscores the challenges the country faces in ensuring the security of its population. The work has only just begun, and it is imperative to find workable solutions to keep everyone safe.
