The Régie de distribution d’eau (REGIDESO) recently launched an appeal to the population of Goma, in North Kivu, to calm the tensions linked to the shortage of drinking water in certain districts of the city. During a meeting with young leaders, grassroots executives and the head of REGIDESO, the mayor assured that a solution would be found soon.
The provincial director of REGIDESO, David Angoyo, acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the water shortage and apologized to the population. He explained that efforts were underway to meet the needs, but the company was facing various challenges.
One of the initiatives implemented is the installation of a new motor pump unit in the Sasolakivu station, with three motor pumps dedicated to strengthening the water supply in the neighborhoods of the municipality of Karisimbi, where the situation seemed to be critical.
These drinking water supply problems have had adverse consequences for the population, particularly in terms of public health, especially during the dry season.
It is encouraging to see that efforts are being made to address this critical issue. It is essential that access to drinking water is guaranteed, as this has a direct impact on the health and well-being of the inhabitants of Goma.
The population must be supported and informed of the measures taken to remedy the water shortage, in order to maintain a climate of trust and promote better collaboration between REGIDESO and the citizens.
The situation of water scarcity in Goma highlights the importance of investing in drinking water supply infrastructure and in the effective management of this precious resource. It is essential to put in place sustainable solutions to ensure access to drinking water for all inhabitants, in order to guarantee their well-being and their health.
In conclusion, REGIDESO and the local authorities have become aware of the urgency of the situation and are actively working to find solutions to the shortage of drinking water in Goma. It is important that the population be kept informed of progress and actions taken to resolve this problem. Access to drinking water is a fundamental right and it is essential to do everything possible to guarantee it to all the inhabitants of the city
