Rhissa Ag Boula calls for the arrest of General Abdourahmane Tiani

Faced with the political crisis currently shaking Niger, a resistance movement is emerging. Rhissa Ag Boula, a former Tuareg rebel and former Minister of Tourism, has announced the creation of a Resistance Council for the Republic (CRR). This movement positions itself in opposition to the coup led by General Abdourahamane Tiani and calls for the arrest of the latter.

In her statement, Rhissa Ag Boula describes the coup as ignominy and treason. He also denounces attempts to implicate mercenaries and war criminals known as Wagner. The CRR declares its full support for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and calls for military intervention to restore President Mohamed Bazoum to office.

Rhissa Ag Boula is an influential figure, having been a historic leader of the Tuareg rebellions. He has extensive operational experience and an in-depth understanding of the politico-army dynamics in the Sahel region.

The creation of this Resistance Council for the Republic complicates an already fragile situation. According to the experts, it is not only necessary to consider the politico-military actors, but also the armed jihadist and separatist groups present in the region. An intervention by ECOWAS could add an inter-state dimension to this complex situation.

This crisis in Niger raises many concerns, both politically and security-wise
