“Memorandum for democratic elections in the DRC: Citizen mobilization for a future of peace”

In a context of persistent crisis at all levels, Catholic and Protestant lay people, civil society organizations and citizens’ movements recently published a memorandum in which they express their concern about the absence of a climate conducive to peace after the 2023 elections.

They point out in particular that despite the multiple calls for a consensus on the ongoing electoral process, the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) continue to carry out the calendar of electoral activities in violation of the established rules.

Aware of this situation, these committed actors have decided to launch a series of mass mobilization activities to make their voices heard and defend their rights. They remain vigilant to the evolution of the situation and will follow closely the next events.

This memorandum highlights the concerns of the various actors in Congolese society who aspire to a peaceful and democratic transition. It is an invitation to the mobilization and commitment of all citizens to defend their common interests.
