“Kasindi: new deadly attack by ADF fighters in the Democratic Republic of Congo”

Repeated attacks by ADF fighters continue to sow terror in the Beni region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. At least eight people, including three women, were killed in a deadly attack that took place on Sunday June 11 in the town of Kasindi. Two other people were seriously injured.

According to witnesses on the spot, the rebels attacked the Congo ya Sika district in the south of the city and executed the victims with rudimentary weapons such as machetes, axes and hammers. Most of the victims were tied up before being executed.

This is the second deadly attack by the ADF in the city of Kasindi this year. The first was claimed by the Islamic State group last January 15, when a bomb attack targeted a Pentecostal church and claimed the lives of 17 civilians and injured more than 70 others.

This new attack once again raises the issue of security in the Beni region, where armed groups have been operating for years, carrying out deadly attacks against the civilian population. The inhabitants of the region have regularly demonstrated to demand better protection from the authorities.

Overall, the security situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains worrying, with armed groups continuing to sow terror in certain parts of the country. Faced with these challenges, the authorities must redouble their efforts to ensure the safety of the population and put an end to the insecurity that is rife in certain regions of the country.
