The headquarters of the political party Alliance for Change (A.Ch) was the scene of an intrusion by elements of the Republican Guard on Saturday June 10, 2023. A maneuver described as too much provocation by Josué Mbumba, the national secretary in in charge of the mobilization and propaganda of the party of Jean-Marc Kabund-À-Kabund.
Indeed, the Republican Guard stormed the headquarters of the A.Ch party located in the commune of Limete in Kinshasa under the pretext of ensuring the security of President Félix Tshisekedi there. Yet this is a clear violation of the private home.
Questioned by the press, Mbumba wondered about the real motivations of this operation and alerted public opinion to a plot to deposit firearms at party headquarters in order to accuse certain officials and arrest them.
This case took place in a tense context marked by the growing threat of armed groups in the province of North Kivu and an attack by the Codeco militia in the village of Adrasi in Ituri which killed seven people, not to mention police violence in Kimbau having led to the death of several civilians.
In the process, the DRC Mining Week 2023 was an opportunity to launch a reflection on the digital transformation and the inclusion of women in the mining industry of the DRC. If multinational mining companies can help lift the country out of poverty, there needs to be better transparency and a fair redistribution of income to go along with it.
This new incident at A.Ch headquarters is once again a reminder of the need for constant dialogue in order to prevent such excesses. Congolese authorities should take steps to avoid undermining social peace through arbitrary actions. Political parties for their part must remain open to exchanges for the well-being of all
