DRC Mining Week 2023: nine sponsor companies come together to share their experience and discuss the future of the mining sector in the DRC

Last Friday, nine corporate sponsors of DRC Mining Week came together to discuss the significant progress made by FEC member companies and the opportunities the mining sector offers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The sponsors presented the profile of their respective companies and recalled their commitment to the development of the country.

Several companies mentioned the importance of including women in the mining sector and of supporting the small and medium-sized companies that work there. FEC Haut-Katanga also encouraged young entrepreneurs to attend DRC Mining Week to better understand the mining ecosystem and find development opportunities there.

This year’s theme is “Recognizing the Efforts and Victories of Mining Companies” and the launch ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 14, ending on Friday, June 16.

Beyond these advances, the DRC has also worked on other subjects such as the modernization of its population identification and census system, the conservation of wildlife and the protection of certain endangered species. .

However, there are still problems to be solved in the DRC, such as the growing insecurity in the province of North Kivu and the violent repression of peaceful demonstrations. Despite this, the Ahmadi Muslim community has organized an annual conference to recall the true values of Islam in the Congo.

The DRC has also signed a strategic partnership with the European Union to create a responsible value chain of critical minerals and to ensure transparent management of public accounts.

In summary, the DRC Mining Week is a unique opportunity for the mining community to discover the different opportunities that the DRC offers. But it is also important not to forget the many social and environmental issues facing the country.
