Teachers in the territory of Kailo, in the province of Maniema, are facing a worrying situation. Indeed, they are insistently demanding the payment of their salary arrears, which amount to three months. In an interview given to Radio Okapi, David Afinde, territorial permanent of the Syndicate of Teachers of Congo (SYECO) in Punia, expresses his incomprehension and his concern. Since last May, teachers in Punia have still not received their salaries. While the Ministry of Education has already issued guidelines for the resumption of classes and the registration of students, it is difficult to imagine how teachers will be able to prepare effectively without having received their salaries.
This situation raises a crucial question: will teachers in the territory of Punia be able to collect their salaries before the start of the 2023-2024 school year?
