Worrying situation of teachers in Kailo: three months of unpaid salaries

Teachers in the territory of Kailo, in the province of Maniema, are facing a worrying situation. Indeed, they are insistently demanding the payment of their salary arrears, which amount to three months. This legitimate claim highlights the financial difficulties faced by many teachers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In an interview given to Radio Okapi, David Afinde, territorial permanent of the Syndicate of Teachers of Congo (SYECO) in Punia, expresses his incomprehension and his concern. Since last May, teachers in Punia have still not received their salaries. While the Ministry of Education has already issued guidelines for the resumption of classes and the registration of students, it is difficult to imagine how teachers will be able to prepare effectively without having received their salaries.

This situation raises a crucial question: will teachers in the territory of Punia be able to collect their salaries before the start of the 2023-2024 school year? This is a legitimate concern, as teachers are the pillars of national education and their work is essential to the functioning of the education system.

It is important to recognize the essential role of teachers in society and to provide them with decent working conditions. The non-payment of salaries is not only an injustice towards teachers, but also a destabilizing factor for the entire education system.

It is therefore imperative that the competent authorities take prompt action to resolve this situation. This is in the interest of teachers, students and the entire educational community. Teachers deserve to be compensated for their hard work and dedication.

Hopefully this situation will be quickly resolved and teachers in Kailo Territory will soon receive their due salaries. The success of education in the Democratic Republic of the Congo largely depends on the recognition and support given to teachers
