Women entrepreneurs in Kinshasa: a directory to promote their work
The Congolese government presented the first directory of women entrepreneurs in Congo at a forum focusing on the principles of women’s empowerment and corporate social responsibility. This initiative aims to highlight the essential role of women in the economic development of the country.

The Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, stressed the importance of supporting women entrepreneurs by offering them business opportunities and promoting their products. He also announced the creation of a free space at the Congolese National Radio and Television for the promotion of their activities.

The Minister of Gender, Family and Children, Mireille Masangu Bibi Muloko, welcomed the progress made by the Congolese government in favor of small and medium-sized enterprises, stressing the importance of the economic empowerment of women.

UN-Women, represented by Adama Moussa, reaffirmed its commitment to support this type of initiative which aims to promote the efforts of Congolese women entrepreneurs.

In parallel, the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Congo organized a forum and an exhibition to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women, in partnership with UN Women. A financing and training project, called REDAF, was also launched to support women in the development of their activities.

An awards ceremony, titled “WEPs Awards”, is planned to recognize companies that have contributed to the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender equality.

Betty Mulanga, coordinator of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Congo, called on women entrepreneurs to massively join Afeeco in order to benefit from this support and visibility.

This forum is part of the project for the reform and dissemination of legal texts in favor of women in the DRC and bears witness to the efforts made by the Congolese government to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women in the field. of entrepreneurship
