The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Congo, Kasaï central, organized its annual conference (Jalasa Salana) from June 9 to 10 in Kananga. More than 2,000 Muslims from the greater Kasai area attended. The theme of the year, “Obedience”, aimed to recall the principles of the Holy Quran for a good Muslim.
Khalid Mahmoud Shahid, Amir Jama’at of the Ahmadiyya community in the DRC, explained during an interview with CONGOPROFOND.NET that this theme had particular importance because of the poor image of Muslims in the world. Indeed, Khalid Mahmoud Shahid pointed out that some leaders were preaching an Islam that had nothing to do with true Islam, which contributed to tarnishing the image of this religion.
To respond to this disinformation, the Ahmadiyya community regularly organizes conferences accessible to all denominations to explain to Muslims and non-Muslims what Islam represents beyond this bad media image. Khalid Mahmoud Shahid also announced the inauguration of some mosques in villages surrounding Kananga.
Every year, the Ahmadiyya community continues to bring Kasai Muslims together to strengthen their faith and recall the tenets of their religion, an initiative that we hope will help change the perception of Islam around the world.
