The 2023 Francophonie Games in Kinshasa: a success hailed by all

The Games of La Francophonie, which took place from July 28 to August 6, 2023 in Kinshasa, aroused the enthusiasm of the inhabitants of the Congolese capital. With the participation of thirty-six member states and governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), this 9th edition was marked by impeccable organization and remarkable performances by Congolese athletes.

The enthusiasm of the Kinshasa public for the Games of La Francophonie was one of the highlights of this edition. Zeina Mina, Director of the International Committee of the Games of La Francophonie (CIJF), also underlined and welcomed this enthusiasm. The people of Kinshasa expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the event and the victory of the Congolese athletes, who won a total of 34 medals.

The exemplary organization of the Francophone Games was noticed and appreciated by many participants and spectators. The infrastructures put in place for the event were particularly praised, allowing athletes to train in optimal conditions. In addition, security was ensured during the event, which allowed spectators to fully enjoy the competitions.

However, despite these positive points, some incidents were deplored. Cases of brutality on the part of the security forces towards people not respecting the instructions have been reported. This kind of behavior has tarnished the image of the Games of La Francophonie and must be prevented in the future.

Despite everything, the flawless organization of the DRC has made it possible to showcase the country and improve its image on an international scale. The Games of La Francophonie have strengthened ties between French-speaking countries and given increased visibility to Congolese athletes and artists.

In conclusion, the Games of La Francophonie 2023 in Kinshasa were a success in many aspects. The exemplary organization, the performances of the Congolese athletes and the support of the public contributed to making this event a milestone for the DRC. It is essential to capitalize on this success and continue to promote sport and Francophone culture in the country
