Solidarity campaign for military, police and military wives in eastern DRC

In a laudable initiative, the Rassemblement des femmes syndicalistes de l’administration publique (RAFSAP Asbl) has launched a solidarity campaign in favor of female soldiers, police officers and wives of soldiers residing in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). . This campaign, launched by the Minister of State in charge of Planning, Judith Suminwa Tuluka, aims to provide concrete help to these women who are the victims of the atrocities perpetrated in the region by the Kigali regime.

The campaign was launched on Thursday, August 10, 2023, on the occasion of the International Day of African Women and the 16th anniversary of RAFSAP. This initiative bears witness to the solidarity and commitment of Congolese women towards their sisters who are going through difficult times in the east of the country.

The theme of the International African Women’s Day this year was “Polling the wisdom and strength of women to build peace and the implementation of the African Free Trade Area”. A theme that resonates particularly in the Congolese context, where peace and security are major issues.

The Minister of State in charge of Planning welcomed this initiative and encouraged the women of RAFSAP in their approach. She stressed the importance of the role of women in building change in Africa and recalled the Congolese government’s commitment to equal rights and opportunities for women.

The collection campaign will be spread over two weeks and the amount collected will be handed over to the Ministers of Defense and Social Affairs to be sent to the beneficiaries. This is a concrete action to support these courageous women who face difficult situations in the east of the country.

This solidarity campaign is a fine proof of the unity and solidarity of Congolese women. It shows that despite the difficulties, women remain committed to supporting their sisters and fighting for their rights. This is an example to follow and a strong signal for the promotion of gender equality in the DRC.
