Title: Teachers in several provinces in the DRC have not received their salary for 3 months
With less than a month left for the end of the 2022-2023 school year, teachers in several educational zones, covering nearly 11 territories in the provinces of Kasaï, Equateur and Grand Bandundu, have not been paid for more than 3 months.
According to the Trade Union Confederation of Congo (CSC), this situation is due to the slowness of the bank to release the money to Caritas, which is responsible for paying these teachers.
Faced with this situation, Sylvain Nkashama, permanent representative of the Trade Union Confederation of Congo in the Greater Kasai area, called on the government to intervene and resolve this situation as quickly as possible.
This payments crisis is affecting teachers who are already working in difficult conditions in the DRC, where many schools lack basic teaching equipment and resources.
This situation also endangers the end of the 2022-2023 school year and could affect the future of students who may not benefit from adequate training.
There is an urgent need for the government to take action to address this teacher payment crisis by addressing the concerns of the CSC and ensuring that teachers receive the pay they have earned for their work
