“Mobondo: a militia terrorizes Kongo-Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo”

The province of Kongo-Central, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is experiencing a persistent security crisis. The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Interior and Security, Peter Kazadi, reported the presence of elements not yet identified in the territory of Lukula. This militia, called Mobondo, has multiplied incursions into the territories of Kenge and Popokabaka, where it has terrorized the peaceful citizens and snatched several properties, notably from Iniangi and Imbundi. A customary chief was even assassinated.

Measures have been taken to counter these attackers. A group of Mobondo were captured in Kunzulu localities as well as others in Kwamouth territory. The Congolese government is also working on the issue of the security crisis in the west of the country, and the mission is far from over.
