The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) proceeded, on Friday, June 9, to the draw of the second edition of the AfroCan. This competition is scheduled from July 6th to 16th in Luanda, Angola. The Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), winner of the first edition in 2019, are in group D with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Mamba of Mozambique.
The draw seems favorable for the Congolese ambassadors who must deliver and defend their title of champion in front of the Lions and the Mamba. As a reminder, the DRC had won the first edition of this competition reserved mainly for players playing on the African continent by dominating Kenya (82-61). This match was played on July 27, 2019 at the Palais des Sports Salamatou Maiga in Bamako, Mali.
The Congolese Leopards have their work cut out for them, they will have to defend their title by facing the Lions and the Mamba, two teams who have demonstrated their know-how during the playoffs. The Lions qualified with a demonstration in front of Equatorial Guinea (102-38) and the Mamba won their place after the playoffs of zone 6.
DRC basketball fans are looking forward to this competition to see their favorite team defend their title.
