Independent candidate Hortense Kavuo Maliro announced her official candidacy for the highest office in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) when she arrived in Goma on June 8, 2023. Ms. Kavuo Maliro, also founder of the Association for the Social Integration of the Physically Handicapped and promoter of We Are The World School, a school for children affected by the horrors of war in North Kivu, believes that the time has come for it to act and participate effectively in the management of the nation. It thus wishes that people with disabilities can be represented in decision-making positions.
