Gemena launches concreting works on the avenue de l’Aéroport. The work which was launched by the provincial governor, Jean-Claude Mabenze, will extend over 800 meters and last about two months. This initiative is funded by the central government to the tune of US$622,429.23. This is the first time that concreting works have been carried out at Gemena since the dismemberment.
At the moment, the DRC is experiencing various situations that are making the news. The persistent security crisis in the province of Kongo Central, the disorders caused by armed men illegally occupying the residence of Moise Katumbi, the alarming situation in the Rwenzori sector where the ADF rebels continue to sow terror and paralyze education, and kidnapping 100 people last April.
The DRC is nevertheless making progress in certain areas. The country recently launched a new agricultural program in partnership with DEM and Bio-Agro Business, and took a crucial step towards issuing national identity cards. The Leopards of the DRC are also preparing to face the Panthers of Gabon for CAN 2023.
The EU discusses with the DRC Ambassador to the Benelux and to the EU the security situation and the electoral process. The country also officially launched the second wave of biometric identification of state agents in Kinshasa.
In essence, the news in the DRC is rich and diverse. The concreting work on Avenue de l’Aéroport in Gemena is a major step forward for the city. However, security challenges continue to preoccupy the population, despite notable progress in other areas such as agriculture and the modernization of the administration.
