Fire in Bukavu: 7 houses reduced to ashes, the victims left to fend for themselves.

The Nyalukemba district, in the city of Bukavu, was hit by a terrible fire on the night of Wednesday June 08 to Thursday June 09, 2023. The head of the avenue of the circle hypique/Irambo, Dieudonné MUDERHWA, testifies that seven houses have burned to ashes and two others were destroyed to prevent the flames from spreading. Unfortunately, the owner of the house from where the fire is said to have started was absent during the tragedy. The victims have lost everything and have to spend their nights under the stars, without any support from the government or the community.

Indeed, in Bukavu, the absence of a fire-fighting vehicle worsens the situation each year during the dry seasons. The fire that took place in Nyalukemba is not the first and will not be the last. The president of the civil society of the district, Obed MANVU Elie, launches an urgent appeal to all the citizens and the authorities to come to the aid of the victims, who are left to fend for themselves.

It should be recalled that on Saturday June 3, sixty houses were devastated on Avenue Camp Zaire, in the commune of Kadutu. The victims received no support from the government or the community. This growing insecurity worries and forces citizens to live in precarious conditions, with no prospect of a better future.

We are committed to offering comfort to all Congolese affected by these tragedies. We can only hope that the authorities will take the necessary measures to put an end to this growing insecurity and provide meaningful assistance to the victims.
