“Chaos at the CENI: the electoral file revision agents in Isiro and Rungu are demanding their unpaid salaries for two months”

The day after the official launch of the second wave of biometric identification of State agents in Kinshasa, agents who participated in the operations to revise the electoral register in the city of Isiro and the territory of Rungu expressed their dissatisfaction. Their presence in the street this Friday, June 9 is explained by unpaid wages. Indeed, the agents claim the payment of their salary which has not been paid for two months.

Protesters besieged the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in their province to make their voices heard. According to some witnesses, if the CENI does not quickly remedy their situation, they will not hesitate to block the training room. The demonstrators demand a quick reaction from politicians and the national president of the CENI, Denis Kadima to resolve their situation.

This situation is not new in the DRC, indeed, similar demonstrations take place regularly in the country. In Kongo Central province, persistent security in 2023 is still the major concern. The latest developments in this region show a growing security crisis.

But there is also good news, the DRC has launched a new agricultural program in partnership with Dem and Bio-Agro Business. This program should make it possible to modernize agriculture and improve the conditions of traditional farmers. In addition, the country has taken a crucial step towards the issuance of national identity cards, a project long awaited by the population.

In summary, the situation in the DRC continues to experience ups and downs. While some sectors are experiencing a certain stability, others, such as security and employment, are still experiencing major difficulties. Let’s hope that the authorities will find solutions to solve these problems and guarantee a better future for the Congolese people.
