Bloody terrorist attacks in Rwenzori sector, call for decisive action.

Blood is still flowing in the Rwenzori sector in North Kivu. The ADF continue to carry out terrorist attacks against civilians, despite military operations in this region for more than four years. Recent events have caused the death of fifteen people. 12 of them were killed in Bukokoma village near Nzenga Kasusu, while the other three were murdered in Kalivula and Kyandengi.

Rebel attacks have also had a negative impact on education. Many schools remained closed, resulting in a halt to activities in the area. This situation is certainly due to the recent defeat of the ADF during the last military operations carried out jointly with the FARDC and the UPDF elements in the chiefdom of Bashu.

While civilians continue to suffer from the assaults of the ADF, local civil society, supported by the local youth committee, calls on the armed forces to redouble their efforts and strategies to fight against this deadly phenomenon.

The recent terrorist attacks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in the province of North Kivu, once again underline the urgency of the situation. Acts of violence perpetrated by armed groups not only hamper the development process, but also have disastrous consequences for civilian populations.

It is therefore time for local authorities and security forces to take decisive action to end this situation and allow the population to live in peace and security.
