“The Democratic Republic of Congo mobilized to improve its business climate and accelerate the ecological transition”

The Democratic Republic of Congo is mobilizing to accelerate the implementation of the Business Climate Emergency Plan. President Tshisekedi has expressed the need to carry out the necessary reforms by the end of the year and asks for the various recommendations resulting from the exchanges between the stakeholders during the public and private dialogue to be taken into account.

The Congolese government made a presentation of the results of the first survey of the National Business Climate Barometer (BNCA) with the aim of better understanding the economic realities of operators. This initiative shows the government’s desire to offer economic operators a more stable environment through reforms.

In addition, discussions are underway between the DRC and the European Union for the conclusion of a partnership on the value chain of strategic minerals. The two parties have agreed on a roadmap around industrial projects for the beneficiation of critical minerals which could accelerate the ecological transition in the DRC and in the EU.

The Prime Minister also informed the Council of the pooling of operations for the identification, census and enrollment of the Congolese population. The memorandum of understanding relating to the transfer of the electoral register, the registration system, the cartographic data and the collection material by the Independent National Electoral Commission to the National Office for the Identification of the Population (ONIP) as well as to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) falls within this framework.

In short, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is implementing political, technical and human reforms to improve the business climate and counterbalance the economic repercussions of the global health crisis.
