The political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is more tense than ever and the latest news is not reassuring. Salomon Idi Kalonda Della, special adviser to Moïse Katumbi, was transferred to the military prosecutor’s office this Saturday, June 10. Remember that he was arrested on May 30 and faces heavy charges, including illegal carrying of weapons and preparation of a coup.
However, these accusations were rejected by his relatives who denounce the instrumentalization of state services for political ends. The context is all the more critical as the properties of Moïse Katumbi were searched by the authorities.
Faced with this harassment of the opposition, Dieudonné Bolengetenge, secretary general of Ensemble pour la République, calls on the regime of Mr. Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo to stop this provocation which tarnishes the image of the country and risks leading the DRC to its conflagration.
This situation is taking place in an uncertain political context where opposition demonstrations are multiplying in the Congolese capital. Congolese citizens are running out of patience and this climate of insecurity can only worry them more.
Faced with such a situation, it is time for the authorities to do everything possible to guarantee social security and peace. The current tensions can only lead to an escalation of violence and other acts that will jeopardize the political and social stability of the DRC.
