Gemena: start of concreting work on Avenue de l’Aéroport

Thursday, June 8 will be a memorable date for the inhabitants of Gemena, capital of the province of Sud-Ubangi in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Indeed, the governor of the province, Jean-Claude Mabenze, launched the concreting works of the avenue de l’Aéroport there.

Financed by the central government, these works are spread over a distance of 800 meters at a total cost of 622,429.23 USD. It is a first since the dismemberment of the province that work of this scale has been carried out in Gemena.

The works will be undertaken by the Office of Roads and Drainage (OVD) brigade of Sud-Ubangi. The engineer Gabriel Kiwonge, provincial director of the OVD, is confident about the duration of approximately two months which will be necessary for the realization of the works.

Among the main advantages of this work, it should be noted that a road network in good condition contributes considerably to the economic and commercial development of the region. It will also improve traffic conditions for residents, users and traders.
