DRC accelerates implementation of its Business Climate Contingency Plan while facing political and security challenges

The Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing to accelerate the implementation of its Business Climate Emergency Plan. President Félix Tshisekedi asked at the 101st meeting of the Council of Ministers for a system to take charge of and follow up on the various recommendations resulting from exchanges between stakeholders during public and private dialogue to carry out the reforms by the end of the year. ‘year. He also welcomed the presentation of the results of the first National Business Climate Barometer (BNCA) survey and encouraged the government to improve the country’s overall score.

The Congolese government has also initiated discussions with the European Union for the conclusion of a partnership on the value chain of strategic minerals. The parties agreed to launch negotiations to conclude a strategic partnership between the European Union and the DRC in September 2023, during the DRC-Africa Forum dedicated to battery methods.

Still at the government level, Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde announced the pooling of operations for the identification, census and enrollment of the Congolese population. It signed a memorandum of understanding with the Independent National Electoral Commission for the transfer of the electoral register, the enrollment device, the cartographic data and the collection material to the National Office for the Identification of the Population (ONIP) as well than at the National Institute of Statistics.

Finally, the Democratic Republic of Congo has also just launched a new agricultural program in partnership with DEM and Bio-Agro Business. The aim is to improve food security and provide agricultural raw materials for local and international industries.

The Democratic Republic of Congo must also maintain its security and electoral process for CAN 2023 while maintaining efforts towards the issuance of national identity cards.
