The national deputy Christelle Vuanga has made a bill on the creation, organization and functioning of the national order of biologists and laboratory technicians in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This bill is a plea from the association of these health workers to organize the sector and improve the quality of their work.
Blandin Bokakela, national president of the council of biologists and laboratory technicians of the DRC, explains that it was time to bring order to this sector because an error by the laboratory technician or biologist can have consequences for an entire population. Christelle Vuanga has agreed to bring this bill forward because she believes it will bring positive change to the DRC.
The law proposes in particular to ensure compliance with ethics, to sanction cases of breaches through its national disciplinary commission, to receive and analyze any complaints and denunciations raised by the administrative authorities and third parties against members, and channel them to the provincial council of the jurisdiction of the member concerned for useful arrangements.
For biologists and laboratory technicians in the DRC, this bill is essential to have a better organization of the sector, laboratories that meet standards and qualified personnel. The misdiagnosis was pointed out during the study carried out by experts on malnutrition in Kongo-Central: at least 40 children were treated as sickle cell sufferers while suffering from malnutrition. This is why the creation of this corporation is very important to solve the serious health problems in the DRC.
In conclusion, this bill is a major step forward for the DRC and biologists and laboratory technicians will finally be able to work in an organized and professional manner.
