Agricultural Voluntary Programme: A new impetus for Congolese agriculture

Agriculture, one of the pillars of the Congolese economy, will soon benefit from a new impetus thanks to the Agricultural Voluntary Program (PVA). This tripartite project, involving the company DEM, the Congolese State and the company Bio Agro Business, will encourage the production and processing of agricultural products such as corn, cassava and rice, as well as the supervision and support for farmers in rural areas.

The contract designates DEM as the supplier of the bases, the Congolese State is the owner and Bio Agro Business, the manager. To carry out this project, DEM covered the cost of agricultural equipment and supplies to the tune of 139 million USD. In return, the Congolese State will have to deliver completed sites to Bio Agro Business for the production and processing of agricultural products and provide support to farmers.

This program is a commendable initiative that will help boost the Congolese agricultural sector and motivate producers. However, it is essential that the authorities ensure the proper execution of the clauses of the contract to avoid any risk of corruption or embezzlement.

The development of agriculture is an important lever for stimulating economic growth and improving the living conditions of rural populations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The PVA is an opportunity to seize to revitalize this strategic sector
