“Controversial search at the home of Salomon Idi Kalonda Della’s mother in the DRC: the Human Rights Research Institute expresses its concerns”

The military intelligence services carried out a search this Friday morning at the home of Salomon Idi Kalonda Della’s mother, an intervention much criticized by the Institute for Human Rights Research. The lawyers were blocked at the entrance to the avenue and the area was sealed off, making it difficult for journalists and the lawyer who was prevented from entering the house.

Yesterday, the Human Rights Research Institute (IRDH) expressed its deep concern about the searches carried out at the residences of Salomon Idi Kalonda Della, located on Moero and Adoula avenues in the town and city of Lubumbashi.

The IRDH denounces the tendency of the services to want to intimidate litigants and witnesses, which is contrary to the official functions of the OPJ. The institute also criticized the lawyers’ refusal to search and expressed concern about the transparency of the investigation.

This intervention adds to the long list of similar operations perpetrated by the authorities in the region, showing growing concern about insecurity and the implementation of lasting reforms to improve the economic attractiveness of the DRC, to ensure lasting peace in the region and to promote the human rights of citizens. The DRC should also conduct pooling to establish a general file of the population and establish a cantonment of M23 fighters, and give life to the Alternative for a new Congo, a political platform for a better future for the Congolese people.

Despite doubts about the proper administration of justice, the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) maintains its commitment to fight against corruption and the embezzlement of public funds, which is a positive signal for the future of the DRC
