The construction of a modern stadium in Kananga, Kasaï-Central, is underway, but the work needs a financial boost to be completed. Kenir Kenandi, president of the Athlétique Club du Kasaï (ACK), appealed to local, national and international partners to support this sports initiative.
This new stadium, called “the Athletic Stadium”, is planned to accommodate 12,000 seats. For now, the work has focused on the construction of the bleachers and the fitting out of the changing rooms in the central stand. The previous steps, such as earthworks, compaction of the playground, and laying of the natural lawn, have already been completed.
Kenir Kenandi stresses the importance of this infrastructure for sports development in the region. He regrets that the former Kasaï-Occidental does not have sports infrastructure despite its many talents in football. Voices are raised in Kananga to encourage the political authorities to support this project and promote the supervision of young people in the region.
Sports analysts believe the stadium will help revitalize local sport and encourage young people to engage in physical activity. They also recall the importance of rehabilitating the only Katoka Youth Stadium, in order to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the region.
For now, the work is continuing thanks to the limited means of the ACK, but the appeal launched by Kenir Kenandi aims to mobilize additional resources to speed up the construction process. Local, national and international partners are invited to join this initiative and contribute to the realization of this “temple of football” in Kananga.
This project represents an opportunity not only for the development of sport in the region, but also for the economic and social revitalization of the local community. It is therefore essential to support the efforts of the ACK in the construction of this modern stadium and to promote healthy and fulfilling sports practice for young people in the Kasaï-Central region
