Rebel attack in Lumalisa: ADF jihadists burn houses and kidnap civilians

The locality of Lumalisa, located on the Komanda-Mambasa axis, was the target of a rebel attack attributed to the jihadists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), in the early hours of June 7, 2023.

Testimonies reported by victims of this attack show that the rebels burned houses, looted property and kidnapped civilians. “It was around one o’clock in the morning that I started to hear gunshots. I thought they were FARDC soldiers. I woke up and saw the ADF arrive singing before setting fire to several houses,” said an injured victim.

Colonel Maxime Tshisimbi, administrator of the territory of Mambasa, confirmed this information and put forward a toll of three houses burned and one person seriously injured. However, he claims that the security situation has become calm again after this attack.

The interim territorial coordinator of civil society condemned this tragedy orchestrated by the rebels in collaboration with some inhabitants of the territory. She recommends that the army step up night and day patrols to put an end to insecurity in the region.

As a complement, images of the rebel incursion into the locality of Lumalisa were broadcast, making it possible to account for the extent of the damage caused by the democratic allies of the forces.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is going through a difficult period due to persistent insecurity in certain regions, precarious economic conditions and the political crisis that has affected the country for several months. Despite the various efforts of the government and the international community, the situation remains worrying.
