The 10th ICGLR conference in Luanda is currently underway, and Head of State Félix Tshisekedi is attending. This conference, which is taking place in Angola, focuses on analyzing the security situation in eastern DRC and the Republic of Sudan. It was convened by João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola, current President of the CIRGL, and mediator appointed to facilitate dialogue between the DRC and the Republic of Rwanda.
The Luanda summit follows the initiatives around the Luanda roadmap relating to the situation of insecurity in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative was welcomed by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, during his speech.
The Heads of State and their representatives present in Luanda continue their work behind closed doors, before producing a final communiqué. President Félix Tshisekedi participates in this conference, the tenth of the member countries of the ICGLR.
In parallel with this conference, other subjects affecting the DRC are covered in the blog articles, such as the state of siege in certain provinces of the country, inter-community violence and banditry which impact the country’s security, as well as the question of witchcraft and summary executions which scandalized public opinion. Promising initiatives for the diversification of the Congolese economy are also in the spotlight, as well as projects for the development of road infrastructure and the safety of subcontractors in the country.
Finally, political speech in the DRC is scrutinized, with incidents involving a deputy in detention for incitement to tribal hatred. The human situation of some residents is not left out, with the fate of flood victims in Kalehe who are still waiting to be relocated.
The diversity of topics covered on Fatshimètre’s blog sheds comprehensive light on the situation in the DRC and the initiatives underway to address the country’s challenges.
