The IXth Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa are currently being talked about. Unfortunately, information is circulating that the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo, will not be present at this event. This absence is explained by the fact that the Congolese government has not officially invited the secretary general and other members of the OIF because of the security crisis that exists between Congo and Rwanda.
This decision by the Congolese government also led the Rwandan government not to send its athletes and musical artists to the Games of La Francophonie. This situation raises questions about the impact on competition and on the spirit of exchange and sharing that the Games of La Francophonie aim to promote.
Despite these problems, the organizers of the games have made every effort to ensure that the event takes place in the best conditions. The sports infrastructure has been prepared, as has the games village installed at the University of Kinshasa. The Head of State himself visited the sites and said he was satisfied with the progress of the work.
These Games of La Francophonie are an unmissable event for the member countries of the OIF, allowing them to celebrate the cultural and sporting diversity of La Francophonie. Despite the difficulties, it is important to highlight the talents and performances of the participants to promote cooperation and friendship between French-speaking countries.
It is unfortunate that the diplomatic crisis between Congo and Rwanda has an impact on this international event. Let’s hope that the next games of La Francophonie will be able to take place in a climate more conducive to collaboration and the celebration of La Francophonie.
