The 9th Francophonie Games: Kinshasa ready to take up the challenge!

Title: The 9th Francophonie Games soon in Kinshasa

The month of July will be decisive for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as it will host the 9th Games of La Francophonie which will be held in Kinshasa from July 28 to August 6. The necessary infrastructure for this sporting event has been under construction and rehabilitation in Kinshasa for several months now, and the Tata Raphaël stadium is one of the venues that will host these games, alongside the Martyrs stadium.

According to the testimonies collected by ACTUALITE.CD on site, the stadium renovation work is progressing at a steady pace and is almost complete. The enclosing walls are 80% complete, three entrance models are in progress, the building and bleachers are completely renovated, and a professional tartan track has been installed. As for the playing area, it has undergone a reshaping and leveling. All that remains is to lay the lawn and do some finishing touches.

Officials from Alliance des Bâtisseurs Congolais (ABC), the consortium of Congolese companies in charge of the works, reacted by emphasizing the challenge taken up by their company: “We had a contract with a plan that was not real to the stadium situation. For example: the chairs, the surrounds were not in the contract, etc. These are all additional works. The plan as received had provided only two entrances while the stadium has nine. We should redo studies while the government had already paid the company NDAKU initially. We went back to school to do quality work. The challenge has been met”.

The ABC intends to deliver with a patriotic outburst a top-of-the-range work which will testify to the new dynamic impelled by the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi. Indeed, Cédric Lungu, general manager of this company, applies the new directives aimed at making Congolese entrepreneurs millionaires in the DRC.

This internationally renowned event is proof of the DRC’s ability to organize major sporting events. Only the final finishing touches are needed for the DRC to be ready to successfully host the 9th Games of La Francophonie
