The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was held in the DRC on May 26, when JHR presented the bill on the exemption of court fees for victims of violence based on gender. This event took place thanks to the Canada-World project: Voice of women and girls, bringing together men and women of rights, civil society organizations and journalists committed to supporting this cause.
A new step was taken when the bill exempting survivors of sexual violence from legal fees, led by CSOs for the defense, promotion and protection of the rights of women and girls in the DRC and supported by the Jdh/jhr- ground floor. After being adopted by the National Assembly, this proposal was returned to the Senate for a second reading before its promulgation by the Head of State.
The project aims to facilitate access to justice for women and girls who are victims of sexual violence. To this end, actions will soon be implemented to advance the adoption process in favor of the evolution of the law submitted by JHR.
Ultimately, the goal is to protect the rights of women and girls, including granting them equal access to justice.
