German MPs denounce Rwanda’s aggression in the DRC during their visit to Kinshasa

Title: German MPs visiting Kinshasa condemn Rwandan aggression in DRC

Six German deputies, members of the Economic Cooperation and Development Commission, visiting Kinshasa, condemned the acts of aggression committed by Rwanda in the DRC, established by the report of the United Nations Group of Experts. The President of the National Assembly of the DRC, Christophe Mboso, received them and they notably mentioned the security situation in the east of the DRC, marked by the Rwandan aggression.

The Kishishe massacre, which caused the death of more than 227 civilians, is, according to the Congolese authorities, the peak of “this cycle of blind violence” and constitutes the crime of genocide by action. Germany, which condemned this aggression, intends to put pressure on President Paul Kagame to enforce the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the DRC.

International justice has already been seized for Rwanda to answer for its actions. The President of the DRC, Félix Tshisekedi, had also indicated during his address to the last General Assembly of the UN that “Rwanda’s involvement and its responsibility in the tragedy that my country and my compatriots in the areas occupied by the Rwandan army and its M23 allies are no longer debatable”.

This visit of German deputies to the DRC marks a great opportunity for the improvement of economic and development relations between these two countries. The German deputies also visited educational centers for young Congolese entrepreneurs in order to understand the challenges and prospects of entrepreneurship in the DRC.
