“Historic visit of President Tshisekedi to China: strategic cooperation agreements signed between the two countries”

The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, made a historic State visit to China accompanied by a ministerial delegation. Several cooperation agreements have been signed between the sectoral ministers of the two countries, testifying to a comprehensive Sino-Congolese strategic partnership.

According to the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, this visit made it possible to relaunch cooperation between Kinshasa and Beijing and to clarify the rumors spread upstream, according to which it would be a renegotiation of the contract.

For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DRC, Christophe Lutundula, underlined the interest shown by China in relation to the initiatives to be taken in the field of strategic minerals. He also recalled the importance of involving the private sector in this liberal economic relationship.

The Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, for his part, recalled the objective of this mission which was to breathe new life into Sino-Congolese cooperation. While referring to investment disputes, he underlined the importance of an urgent assessment in this spirit of renewal.

This historic visit to China demonstrates both parties’ interest in a comprehensive strategic partnership that will lead to more fruitful cooperation and increased economic development for the benefit of both nations.
