54 years ago, students at Lovanium University in Kinshasa rose up to demand their freedom, Africanization and the abolition of dictatorship in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Sadly, many students perished in this struggle for freedom without their stories being officially recognized.
Through this poignant story published on the Fatshimetry blog, the author, Czechs Bukasa, gives us his testimony on the events of that fateful day: June 4, 1969. Today, he pays tribute to these courageous students, to the Like Mwamba Symphorien, passionate actor and committed student who lost his life during this revolt.
In 2023, the DRC still faces many challenges and Fatshimétrie’s blog strives to cover them. From the brutality of popular justice to the need to guarantee the safety of the population, including the stakes of the elections, the diversification of the country’s economy and many other subjects, the news is dense in the DRC.
The Fatshimétrie blog thus stands out as an important relay of information, offering a fresh look at current events in the country. Through its analyses, testimonies and reports, Fatshimétrie immerses us in the heart of the DRC and its complex reality.
