The players of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s national women’s tennis team won their first match against Lesotho (3-0) in the Group 4 Africa qualifiers. The competition is currently taking place in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Leopards started the competition well with a crushing victory for Charlène Wantona against Manyama Maisa (6-1/6-1). Nancy Onia then followed up with a victory without appeal against Komohelo Khabele by the same score. The pair Nancy Onia and Marie Bosman finally offered the third victory thanks to their double victory against Manyama Maisa and Kekeletso Moseme (6-3/6-1).

At the head of group B with 3 victories on the clock, the DRC is provisionally ranked tied with Senegal. The two countries will meet this Tuesday, June 6 for a meeting which could decide the first place of the qualifying group for the final.
