The political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to make waves. Indeed, the national deputy, Daniel Safu Butshiemuni was summoned to answer for his actions. He made remarks inciting tribal hatred, an attitude which “desacralizes the function of elected representative of the people and undermines the honor of the lower house of parliament”, according to the Special Commission responsible for hearing him.
This commission is made up of 20 members appointed by the President of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso, on the proposal of the parliamentary groups and non-attached members. It is assisted by cabinets and the administration of the Lower House of Parliament duly appointed by Speaker Mboso.
National deputy David Mukeba, meanwhile, denounced the inflammatory remarks of his colleague. In one of his speeches, he said that Daniel Safu’s remarks were “considered by the whole Republic as addressed to our mothers, our sisters and our daughters. The deputy also referred to how his colleague Safu made threats against the National Assembly through the local press.
The recidivist behavior of the national deputy therefore prompted David Mukeba to request the establishment of an ad hoc commission to deal with this case, hear the colleague and possibly sanction him. The details of the work of this commission will be available later.
It is important to note that the tense political situation in the DRC persists, despite the economic development that the country is experiencing. Unfortunately, the resulting conflicts and human drama have not yet found lasting solutions. Armed attacks are regularly reported, and the safety of populations remains a major concern for the authorities.
Beyond the security situation, the challenges of the country’s urban and road development are also a source of concern for the populations. The authorities must take concrete action to provide adequate infrastructure to citizens.
What is certain is that the DRC must face many challenges, politically, economically and socially. The authorities as well as the various actors in the country must work together to overcome these challenges and allow the population to live in a peaceful and prosperous country.
