“Special committee at the National Assembly: hearing of deputy Daniel Nsafu accused of incitement to tribal hatred in the DRC”

The special committee of the National Assembly set up to hear MP Daniel Nsafu began its work today, June 5. This commission is chaired by deputy Noël Botakile, and assisted by deputy Scolastique Mahindo. The MP in question, a member of Ensemble pour la République de Moïse Katumbi, is assisted by his party colleague, MP Paulin Odiane.

Several deputies criticize Daniel Nsafu for remarks that “incite tribal hatred”. A motion by MP Albert David Mukeba was therefore adopted in plenary for the establishment of this commission, which aims to hear the MP in question and clarify the situation. Deputy Mukeba mentioned several facts which, according to him, “undermine the honor of the National Assembly and his person as a representative of the people”.

However, some in the opposition cry out for “relentlessness and double standards” on the grounds that certain words worse than those made by Nsafu on the side of power are never sanctioned. It would seem that the political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains tense, but positive initiatives are emerging.

However, the economic and social situation seems to be deteriorating in the country, and the opposition is calling for action by the international community. Indeed, terrorist attacks sometimes bloody certain regions of the country, such as in North Kivu where a new attack took place recently.

Despite this difficult context, the Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing for the African Cup of Nations to be held in Côte d’Ivoire: the countdown has begun for this major sporting event in Africa.

At the same time, work has been launched in Kasai to put an end to soil erosion, which is a crucial issue for the lives of local populations. It can therefore be seen that positive initiatives are underway, despite a complex political and economic situation.
