“Priority to public investments: the key sectors targeted for development in the DRC”

Since last Friday, the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi has been encouraging the government to prioritize public investments for the year 2024. He has called for clearly framed budgeting while insisting on harmonization between the central government’s investment projects and those of the provinces. Thus the Ministers in charge of Public Works and Infrastructure as well as Hydraulic Resources and Electricity were asked to collaborate actively with the provincial executives through the provincial divisions of their respective services.

The Head of State also insisted on the priority to be given to projects in the structuring sectors of Energy and Infrastructure. This view of the mind will help to establish harmonization between projects that are achievable in the short and medium terms. Indeed, this will also strengthen the geographical integration of the country. Road and rail infrastructure seems to be a priority for the President of the Republic who hopes to reduce the significant gap between population growth and industrial energy needs.
