Plot alert targeting former Vice-President Jean Marc Kabund’s Alliance for Change. According to a press release published by the political party, the power in place would have malicious plans to “hide firearms, ammunition and bladed weapons within the national headquarters of the Alliance for Change” in order to accuse the party politicians. These accusations were aimed at establishing links between the party and the rebel movements in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This attempt to harm the opposition would be a machination of the President in office to ensure his domination over the region. Jean-Marc Kabund’s party also denounces the arbitrary detention of their leader in a central prison, despite the house arrest order issued by the Court of Cassation.
This situation is all the more alarming as the presidential elections are approaching. The Alliance for Change party calls on all political actors in the country to be vigilant in order to avoid such manipulation.
These allegations are very serious and should be taken seriously. Political oppression must end to allow for a fair and transparent presidential election. The political actors must abstain from any stratagem aiming at destroying the opposition and allowing a real democracy for the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Congolese people deserve a real political alternation for a better future
