“National deputy Daniel Safu auditioned for remarks inciting tribal hatred”

News of June 5, 2023: Hearing of national deputy Daniel Safu

National deputy Daniel Safu appeared before a special and temporary commission following remarks deemed to be incitement to tribal hatred. Known as the spokesperson for the political party Ensemble pour la République de Moïse Katumbi, the politician expressed himself without fear in front of the members of the commission. He was accompanied by his colleague and national deputy, Paulin Odiane.

During the hearing, Daniel Safu recalled a quote from the late Cardinal Malula “Better to be crucified than to crucify the truth”. This special and temporary commission is composed of the deputy Scolastique Mahindo assisted by the national deputy Noël Botakile.

The national deputy had previously made comments that incited tribal hatred during a television program on CML13. He then questioned the responsibility of the Tshisekedi regime in a violent police repression. This had earned him sanctions as well as the suspension of the television channel. As a result, the provincial deputy, Mike Mukebayi, present on the set was detained in Makala prison, pending the evolution of his instruction.

The DRC faces many challenges, including economic, social, political, but also security issues. The M23 rebellion is currently reinforcing its troops and threatening the city of Goma. Efforts to stabilize the region and restore peace are continuing.

In addition, the state of siege in certain regions has failed to reduce the growing insecurity in North Kivu. Faced with political tensions, the country is preparing for crucial elections in six months.

In this environment, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle traveled to Goma to bring a message of peace and hope to an unstable region. In addition, a child trafficking network was dismantled, revealing cases of kidnapping of Congolese children sold in Angola.

In Bukavu, a fire destroyed more than 500 houses. Finally, the north of the country was hit by a new terrorist attack, recalling the urgency of finding solutions to restore the country’s security and stability.
