The news in the Democratic Republic of Congo is abundant and each day brings its share of news. On June 5, 2023, there are still hot topics on the table, including the food crisis, corruption and the reoccupation of Congolese territory occupied by Rwanda.
In this context, it is surprising to note that the majority of the political parties of the Sacred Union have neither ideology nor clear program apart from the desire to re-elect Felix Tshisekedi in power. The author of the article on Fatshimetrie (link: https://fatshimetrie.org/blog/2023/06/05/rdc-plus-de-500-partis-politiques-mais-ou-sont-les-ideologies- et-les-programmes/) points out that this shows that politics has become a profession in Congo, with little regard for popular concerns. Politicians focus on power grab strategies to serve their personal and corporate interests.
Yet there are Congolese political figures who can offer citizens progressive public policies, such as Denis Mukwege, Franck Diongo, Muleka and Mubake. It is therefore regrettable that the Congolese Constitution is not more mobilized by the people to prevent corrupt and nepotist politicians from vying for places.
Overall, the situation in the DRC is worrying, with multiple crises and significant challenges ahead. It is necessary to give meaning to politics to meet the expectations of the population and to build a fairer and more prosperous future.
