Title: Daniel Nsafu auditioned for incitement to tribal hatred: tension is mounting in the National Assembly

The special commission set up to hear the deputy Daniel Nsafu, accused of incitement to tribal hatred, began its work this Monday, June 5 at the National Assembly. The hearing of the elected representative of Mont-Amba lasted more than three hours, and the latter came out determined not to speak to the press. His party colleague, deputy Paulin Odiane, assisted him during the debates.

The plenary had however adopted the institution of this commission on complaint of the deputy Albert David Mukeba. The latter had mentioned several facts relating to the person of Nsafu, which, according to him, “undermine the honor of the National Assembly and his person as a representative of the people”. The offending remarks are ultimately intended to incite tribal hatred.

In his camp, we cry out for relentlessness and double standards, stressing that certain remarks much worse than those made by Nsafu on the side of power are never sanctioned.

The outcome of this hearing cannot be predicted, but it goes without saying that this affair risks crystallizing all the tensions between the government and the opposition in the National Assembly.

In these times of political crisis, positive initiatives are emerging to try to bring peace to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Efforts to restore peace continue in North Kivu, but the economic and social situation is deteriorating. The opposition calls for action by the international community to remedy this.

The Nsafu affair shows how tense the political and humanitarian situation is in the DRC. The country faces many challenges, but positive initiatives show that there is hope
