The IX Games of La Francophonie continue to thrill Kinshasa, with sports competitions and cultural contests that never cease to captivate attention. Thursday, August 3, several disciplines were honored in different sites of the city.
In athletics, the Martyrs stadium was the scene of seven finals. The Democratic Republic of Congo managed to win bronze medals in three of them. Shimirayi Bulenda won bronze in the T13 long jump event (women), while Rose Mulambavu Tiba took bronze in the javelin throw (women). As for Tshikamba Kanko, he won the bronze medal in the decathlon event (men).
In the 5000 meters event, Congolese athletes Gisubizu Alice and Masangu Wa-Mbayo finished 6th and 7th respectively, in a race largely dominated by a Moroccan trio.
